I need to start working out. For some stupid reason, I really want to become a runner. No marathons or anything like that, but I'd like to experience the "runner's high." Not only would I become more healthy (physically and mentally), but I would have a higher chance of achieving Goal Number 9. All I know is that something in my life needs to change and this is the most easily remedied.
Okay, so all of that I need help picking out music for a work out mix. So far I have: Bloc Party, Florence + The Machine, The White Stripes, Beyonce, and a few other random people. Here's some criteria:
1) Must be fast paced, obviously.
2) Not a must-have, but I like deep, meaningful lyrics.
3) The more angry it is, the better.
I think that's it. Also, does anyone have advice on working out? I mean, I know how to do it and all that, but I mean, just give me whatever advice you can. :)
Lost in the World/Who Will Survive in America? by Kanye West.
ReplyDeleteIt has a little bit of a long, slow intro, but once it kicks in, it's one big, hip-hop tinged rush.
Bob Dylan got me through a lot of workouts in college--not necessarily because he is extremely fast-paced, but because the message of his songs made me feel angry (with society, not Bob) and motivated.
ReplyDeleteI like Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" for working out. It's angry, and it's awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI posted a workout mix on my blog recently. It might give you some ideas.

ReplyDeleteAlso, when I work out I listen to my Ke$ha Pandora station. Inspiration?
Ooo, I totally understand about wanting to become a runner!
ReplyDeleteMy sisters have been crazy about it this year, getting up insanely early a few days a week, researching all different ways they can ice their feet (they're barefoot/minimal shoe runners, so they use muscles in their feet most humans who ware shoes never get around to using, so they have to be extra careful not to hurt their feet muscles. Crazy I know.), and so on.
And even with all their craziness I feel jealous by how much they love it. I really want to become a runner like them. And even if I'm never crazy about it like they are (I can't say running 7 miles in an hour is very high on my goal list), but being able to run a couple miles on a whim seems like fun.
Today when I got on the treadmill I didn't actually listen to music, I just watched some of the movie Once on my iPod. I haven't experimented yet with much work out music, but I like your idea of Florence + The Machine. I'll listen to that tomorrow!
